“As a large search firm, we've become fairly good at forecasting hiring trends in our market,” said Chris Ohlendorf, a Partner at McKinley Group. “We noticed a strong upswing in the third quarter of 2006 in several areas, and it continued through the fourth quarter. 2007 looks to be a very good year for professionals seeking new jobs.”
The McKinley list ranks developers with experience in .NET as the number one desirable skill set in 2007. Other technology skill sets that will continue to be strong in the coming year include senior level Project Managers and Software Quality Assurance professionals. The strongest demands exist for professionals with at least two years experience, according to McKinley search professionals.
McKinley Finance reports the strongest hiring trends for finance professionals with Internal Audit and Sarbanes-Oxley experience. Professionals with SEC Reporting experience have strong indicators for hiring in 2007. McKinley Group also reports strong upward trends in Internet Marketing positions, and direct sales positions in the software industries.
The Twin Cities Top Jobs list is based on information from both McKinley Group and McKinley Finance including current open set of job requirements, hiring manager forecasts for 2007, and the size of the available talent pool in the Twin Cities. Search professionals from McKinley Group and McKinley Finance regularly analyze trends in the local and national job markets to identify key placement opportunities.
“Overall, I think 2007 is going to be a good year for candidates in the job market, especially if they're in technology, finance or marketing,” said Paul Beard, President of McKinley Group. “We're seeing qualified candidates with three to four job offers to choose from right now. Employers are going to have to be competitive to get the strongest hires.”.
